IKI - The Second Journey

IKI is a free improvising vocal band of 8 women from Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland bound together by their love for intuitive music making. When IKI enters the stage everything is completely improvised and made up on the spot. There are no rules - anything can happen! We see it as a philosophy of being in the present, creating new music and exploring the human voice and its many facets and sounds. Each concert is a universe of its own, inspired of the immidiate surroundings and moods. 

In 2010 IKI released our debut album for which we won a Danish Music Award. Now the time has come to make our second album. We visited Iceland two and a half years ago, and we got so inspired by the nature, the atmosphere and the people there, that we instantly knew that when it came to recording our second album, we had to go back. And so this summer we did.

We improvised and recorded for three days together with the amazing Icelandic guitarplayer and improviser Hilmar Jensson. It was a fun, mindblowing and extremely intense experience. We ended up with over 6 hours of recorded music! So over the last few months we have been listening and editing to find out exactly which pieces we want to put on the album. It is very important for us to make this album as strong and inspiring as we can. We want to raise awareness of improvised music, and we believe that this album can help to break the boundaries of what song and vocal music is!

But it costs money to get an album out in the world. Money that we don't have. Therefore we ask for your help so that we can mix, master and print the record and make it as beautiful as we dream of. In return for your supports we have gifts listed to your right.
